Collection: Whoopee Caps!

Whoopee Caps are also called a Jughead hat, Palookaville cap,
button beanie, and quite a few others. Traditionally made from a fedora
hat, having the brim trimmed or removed leaving scalloped edges. They
were introduced into American culture through blue collar workers,
notably mechanics and factory workers. Truly a case of necessity breeding
invention as brimmed hats were the norm, but could be a hindrance to
such work. By the mid 1940s, Whoopees became more of a fun fashion
piece for the younger generation.

What you see here are modern and artistic interpretations of the
originals. But in keeping with history, the “Stitched Up!” versions are all
made from upcycled hats that would have otherwise been discarded.
Things like stains, color mottling, holes and tears are now part of the
charm of these one-of-a-kind pieces. In many cases even the trinkets have
been vintage sourced. Wear them with pride and a smile!
